It’s Quadrille Monday over at the dVerse Poets Pub. Today our host is Mish and she’s given us the word prompt of “smudge.” 44 words.

After you,

I never felt clean. No matter

how many showers or how hard

I scrubbed there always

seemed to be a smudge of filth,

a foul blemish

permeating my heart

my soul—

my very being

a putrid reminder

of you and

my naiveté.
