It’s Quadrille Monday over at the dVerse Poets Pub. This week, our writing prompt is the word “abide.”
“Love will abide” —
until it gets tired
of waiting for
never until it
nearly starves from subsisting
on scraps of attention so
grudgingly thrown until
it finally realizes
that its been had and
rips that heart off your sleeve
and grows itself some balls.
Been there done that, Susan, on both sides of the ball-growing equation. I’ve never had a relationship that was balanced for more than fleeting moments 😦 It hurts no matter what.

It does hurt! I’m not sure I’d know aa balanced relationship if I saw one.

Love the wordplay and the analogies in this one, Susan. Truly brilliant. ❤

Love this. I guess a relationship is never balanced. One is always more accommodating than the other… that being said 🙂 as long as there is feeling … we flow 💝

Hahahaha I love the conclusion. Love must not forget to love itself, or it will run in to difficulties! What’s the Stevie Wonder song? ‘Love’s in need of love today’

Too often it’s the only way… staying and starving is never the best.

So true. A perfect ending as well.
