It’s Quadrille Monday over at the dVerse Poets Pub. Today, our prompt is the word ‘keep.’
∞
From that first night
I wanted to keep you.
Then, in the dirty-light of day
it became clear:
you already had a home.
What nobody knew
(not even you!)
is that I kept you anyway
safely
in the tenderest place
of my heart.
Still.
Ah, to be kept in the tenderest place of someone’s heart…. Your graphic is beautiful!

Thank you Lisa. Much appreciated! I created the Ivy Heart myself with MS Paint. It’s awkward as hell at first, but once you get the hang of it, it’s kinda neat. 🙂

This is lovely, I do think we keep some people in our hearts throughout the journey. Lovely artwork.

Lovely artwork to illustrate a touching quadrille. I like the oxymoron in the lines:
‘in the dirty-light of day
it became clear’
and the bitter-sweetness of the final lines.

Thanks, Kim!. I liked that line too. It came out of nowhere. 🙂

That’s so lovely. You don’t always need to “keep” the things you keep.

That special secret someone kept only in your heart. This is as beautiful and the artwork that accompanies it.
