Vadima

It’s the Saturday Lucky Dip over at Mindlovemisery’s Menagerie. Today we are asked to create a Tanka, a classic form of Japanese poetry related to the haiku with five unrhymed lines of five, seven, five, seven, and seven syllables. (5, 7, 5, 7, 7)

blood orange moon hangs

over the bayou; Spanish

moss sways its slow dance

old Gypsy scries in a trance —

her smile jagged like barbed wire
