It’s Quadrille Monday over at the dVerse Poet’s Pub and the writing prompt is the word harbor.
Harbor lights in the moonlight,
walking the shore with a rainbow
just out of reach,
Champagne for no other reason
than celebrating each other,
the way your blue-velvet eyes
seemed to glitter when you smiled—
these are the things I miss
most of all.

For some reason your sense of place was so strong I could hear fog horns and the chugging of tugs, and the lapping of the bay against the dock; good on you.

I love the understated nostalgia of the list poem specially: walking the shore with a rainbow
just out of reach.

Ah….the harbor….the water….the lights….and the memories that walk along with oneself…the missing of you.
So well done.
Glad you posted to the prompt!

A rainbow just out or reach, brings a sense of sadness for me.

So sad it had to be past tense…. some things should just stay as they are.

I so agree, Bjorn! Sometimes it seems like only the good things change and the bad stuff hovers forever.
