The Roommates

Today at the Three Things Challenge (3TC), the writing prompts are takeaway, potatoes, and pizza.

Ding-Dong!

“I wonder who that is?” Joey flipped through the TV channels, making no move to get up.

“Maybe it’s the pizza guy.” Kevin suggested as clipped his last toenail.

“Did you order a pizza?”

“Nuh-uh.” Kevin shook his head. “Did you?”

“You are so weird.” Joey tossed the remote on the coffee table and got up to answer the door. “Weirdest roommate evvvverrrr!

“Thank you!” Kevin smiled proudly. “I try.”

Joey opened the door to a kid in a Mr. Potato Head costume.

“Trick & Treat!” The kid smiled, revealing two missing front teeth.

“You mean ‘trick OR treat,” Joey corrected him. “And it’s not even Hallowe’en.”

“I know,” the kid replied. “I was bored.”

“Come back on Hallowe’en, kid. We don’t have any candy.”

“I’ll take a check…”

Joey closed the door. “Can you believe that?” he said to Kevin.

“Pffft!” Kevin shook his head. “I guess the takeaway from this experience is never answer the door unless you’re expecting a pizza.”

“Or Mr. Potato Head.” Joey added.
