A Stranger’s Guitar: Villanelle

SusanwritesPrecise/Susan Marie Shuman

A slow dance in the moonlight beneath sultry stars

creatures chirping in the warm desert breeze

and a stranger is playing a Classical guitar.

You draw me closer; I feel the beat of your heart

An ache of desire and I’m weak in the knees

A slow dance in the moonlight beneath sultry stars

the moon slips behind the cloud, the sky dazzled with stars

Warm winds shimmer the dry desert trees

and a stranger is playing a Classical guitar.

Your lips brush my cheek, then nibble an ear: a touch light as the desert air

Tell me, is it your intention to tease?

A slow dance in the moonlight beneath sultry stars

The desert wind swirls ’round the small reservoir

I gaze into your eyes, deep blue as the the seven seas

and a stranger is playing a Classical guitar.

When you take my hand, you’re taking my heart

Please don’t break it, Love. Please?

A slow dance in the moonlight beneath sultry stars

and a stranger is playing a Classical guitar.
